“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are an excellent leader.”
As one of only a few to have received nominations from the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, and Emmy Awards, Dolly Rebecca Parton has become one of the most prolific musical icons of American culture. After achieving success as a songwriter for others, Dolly made her album debut in 1967 with Hello, I'm Dolly. In 1999, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. She has composed over 3,000 songs and has received 47 Grammy nominations and 10 Grammy awards.
Since the mid-1980s, Dolly has supported many charitable efforts, particularly in literacy, primarily through her Dollywood Foundation, which works to ensure children have access to the tools they need to achieve literacy. Dolly has also raised money for several other causes, including the American Red Cross and HIV/AIDS-related charities.
In 2005, she was honored with the National Medal of Arts, the highest honor given by the U.S. government for excellence in the arts. For the past fifty years, Dolly Parton has been a model of beauty, creativity, and kindness for the world.
